(H)air Heads

I'd love to share everyone's Feastock Fash with you, but in the interests of time, I instead bring you my favourite duo - host Steve from 'Left or Right' and Jenna-lee Shave, V.I.P international guest and one of my favourite people. Steve is an insanely awesome musician. He also has these amazing patched jeans which he has been adding to for years - they can only be described as 'nuggety.' Please note long haired hotties in background and Jenna-lee's classy as wine bladder. As mentioned, insane.

The Fabulous River

Isn't she lovely... River in front of her Gypsy Fair stall. Her goddess dress is by Madame Feather, resident palm reader / tie-dye artiste. Please note the "gypsy shoes" which are like jewellery for the perpetual bare feet.

Mountains and Mormons

Well, it's been quite a week travelling from the West Coast to the East. First we hung out with old friends in Greymouth, incorporating a random visit from some friendly Mormon folks, who ended up staying for scones and board-games. With such an incongruous mix of gypsies, fishermen jailbirds and mormons, you might expect there to be a few awkward moments. Well, there were a couple. But we managed quite well until I went to hug Elder Heywood goodbye only to be told that hugs were not allowed... No time for regret, as we had a gypsy bonfire to get to, amidst the beautiful Arthurs Pass mountains. Not only were the surroundings magnificent, but there was nobody around to call Noise Control, so we danced, twistered and cartwheeled the night away. And now, our truck won't start and we are forced to spend the night right next to the Dump Station we have just visited. I think it might be punishment for trying to find glamour in the humble Dump Station in my last blog entry. Fabulous much?

My Glamorous Life

Sometimes my life may seem quite carefree, journeying around this beautiful country on a permanent holiday. And often, it is. But then, every few days there comes a time to visit the Dump Station. This is a place that you probably would not know about, unless you had travelled in a motor home for some length of time. In fact, there are Dump Stations in every town, and once you know what to look for, you will see them everywhere! So here I am with our toilet - the PortaPotti 365 - an adorable little portable device that lives in our shower. Sooo glamorous. I am on my way to 'dump' our toilet contents into a Dump Station, which can be a rather awkward and occasionally messy job, all in the glaring public eye. Unfortunately I am wearing a short dress, even though I vow every time I 'dump' in a skirt or dress never to wear one whilst 'dumping' again. But sometimes on sunny days I just can't resist the little dress urge, and then alas, a visit to the Dump Station jumps up on me unexpectedly.

The Proud Grand-Parents

Lola had puppies last night! Mels and Jonas (two of the most fabulous gypsies I know) are now the proud grandparents of seven adorable little Staffordshire Terriers, soon to be adopted by other members of the Gypsy Fair family. Not only was it my first ever birthing experience - gross but amazing - but it was in a house truck next to the river. Sort of biblical with its back to nature style I felt. It was a late night mid-party drama, hence Mels is still in bed in this photo. As if this week hadn't been exciting enough with us finally getting around to painting our truck in a much more fabulous fashion. (Pictures to come on completion!)

Relaxation 101

The Abel Tasman was beautiful, as always. We lounged on stripey deck chairs and floated on turquoise waters. Although it rained rather consistently and coffee was required to keep warm whilst afloat, Jonas made sure we still felt tropical with the essential holiday accessory - the fabulous floral lei.
